Jet / Airplane Cake

When I look at this cake the Top Gun theme song, "Danger Zone" starts to play in my head.  My husband is a HUGE airplane, jet, helicopter, glider, really anything that can fly fan.  He builds remote controlled model airplanes, so what would be more appropriate than to make a jet cake for his birthday.  I saw a cake similar to this by Lindy Smith (a famous European cake decorator).  The Jet is made from gumpaste and the clouds are the cake.  I used two 8 inch square cakes as well as the mini ball pans to help with the fluffiness of the clouds.  I cut the stacked 8 inch cake into two curvy sections and added the mini half balls to it.
